一直以来，年轻情侣都是内地票房的绝对主力军。这个年轻的范畴，甚至能够从14岁一直延伸到40岁。现在内地市场做大之后，是否能够抓住这一特性人群的目光，成为预期一部影片能否成功的首要目标。《特工的特别任务》虽然既不完全类型化也没有新意爆棚，但是却能够让那些相约观影的人们，催生出他们想要的欲动。那些本着其他目的来观影的情侣座观众，极有可能在观看本片的过程中捅破窗户纸，达成他们羞于言说的目的。
影片的故事虽然很新奇，堪比韩国喜剧《超速绯闻》一般怪异。科林·汉克斯饰演的亨利是一个年轻的FBI特工三年后回到家，发现之前肥胖的妈妈（梅格·瑞恩 饰）摇身一变成了拥有众多异性追求者的火辣美女。正在亨利被妈妈的转变迷惑不解的时候，他们三人（还有亨利的订婚妻子，塞尔玛·布莱尔饰演的艾米丽）碰上了魅力熟男汤米（安东尼奥·班德拉斯 饰）。没想到汤米竟然是一位艺术品大盗。亨利职责所在，不得已开始监听自己的母亲，而就在他抓获汤米的时候，才知道汤米的真实身份远远超出他们想象。乍一看这个剧情，估计很多人都会以为这是个悬疑片。可惜它不是，而是喜剧片。因此说这句故事梗概，基本上成为了影片故事的全部。没有悬疑类型那些营造悬念和曲折的手段，这个故事其实就平淡了太多。撑起影片看点的，反而不是梗概中很是怪异的故事，而是喜剧桥段和情色擦边球。
之所以说本片的情色是一计精准的擦边球，是因为本片的激情戏尺度确实只擦了个边。然而误打误撞，这条边却恰恰是内地观众最薄弱的那层。李安曾经不遗余力地在自己的作品中隐忍地揭开中国人两千年的性压抑。尽管中国青年向来羞于面对这个压抑现状，可是借着“兽兽门”等今年一连串的艳照事件，这个性压抑的结果终于以一种让人很费解的、变异扭曲的形式展现了出来。连马诺那种人竟然都标榜在第一次的时候曾在“找正确的位置”这种环节上浪费了俩小时，不得不说是整个社会的悲哀。我们先不论马诺是否说了实话，她之所以这么说，自然是因为她认为这是一个社会能够普遍接受的情况。换言之，整个社会都默认了这种情况的存在，只是在借着马诺之口说了出来而已。如果这些还不够，那么大学女生去做人流的数量与日俱增的现状谁都不能再装视而不见了吧。
性压抑的普遍存在，和性教育的极度缺乏，造就了中国年轻人一个非常奇怪的心理，就是偷窥欲望极强烈，且无法自制。有需要，却不明了，在好奇心的驱使下，必然对其充满异样的获取欲望。偷看A片基本上成为了所有内地年轻人性成熟的唯一途径。即便获取了足够的性知识，经历过了性体验，可原始性压抑留下的痕迹却永远难以抹去。对他人性行为的偷窥仍然有着连自己都意识不到的高度热情。这也就是为什么远远不如日本AV暴露的“兽兽”视频的下载量反而远远超过了日本 AV。闫凤娇为生计所迫而拍摄的人体摄影，也被冠以“艳照”而吸引了无数眼球。
这就又说回了这部故事稀松的《特工的特别任务》。本片的故事因为缺乏悬疑上的一波三折，因此故事并不足够撑起影片的时长，那么影片中间一段，也是本片最大的卖点之一，便是FBI对梅格·瑞恩和班德拉斯的监听戏。在这段戏里，梅格·瑞恩和班德拉斯只有一点点小撕磨，根本没有更劲爆的干柴烈火。可是偏偏影片采用了窃听的形式来表现。这样就为观众的偷窥欲设置了一个猫眼。观众可以通过那两个搞笑猥琐的窃听人员，给自己的偷窥穿上一层道貌岸然的伪装。在内地电影市场，过分裸露一来明星大都不愿意，二来会被广电严审废掉，三来对于日本AV洗礼长大的内地观众而言早已百毒不侵。反倒是本片这种擦边球，正撞内地青年人心里那块痒痒肉。尤其是两两一块看电影的那些情侣座观众，一下就捅破了那份心照不宣，大可以心有灵犀地鼓足勇气提出散场后的活动建议。
利用监听设置一场直抵讳莫如深之心态的擦边球，算是本片最大的成功之处。在这个精准的擦边球之外，影片的喜剧桥段数量充足，质量上乘，非常值得观看。本片的编剧兼导演乔治·加洛之前的作品有很多都是黑人演员主演的喜剧片，即便是《绝地战警》这种火爆动作片也有大量威尔·史密斯的“嘴上功夫”。因此他在撰写幽默对白和设计夸张动作方面很是在行。尤其以梅格·瑞恩夸张的情绪和众人互相的调侃最为容易令人印象深刻。不过由于几位演员表演风格都很独立，在“反应” 上未能形成很好的“互动性”，略微让人遗憾。贼人偷盗和FBI特工的监听都有很多非常搞笑的动作小戏，不时给观众带来笑声。在喜剧桥段带来的笑声的掩盖下，情侣座间的窗户纸即便破了，也不会听到因阵痛而不得已的哀嚎吧。
